From sustainability and social responsibility initiatives at our Hacienda in the highlands of Jalisco to special events promoting the use of sustainable foods and low-waste cocktails, Patrón has made a commitment to supporting the environment. And guess what? You can have fun doing your part by mixing up a batch of deliciously eco-friendly drinks from around the world. Here are a few of our favorites that use sustainable bartending methods.
SALT OF THE EARTH - THE CONDUIT, LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM
This salty sipper from the UK will get your inner-bartender excited. Created exclusively by The Conduit’s bar operations manager, award-winning mixologist Walter Pintus, and head bartender Cameron Moncaster, the Salt of the Earth offers great inspiration for those who enjoy experimenting in the kitchen. This cocktail incorporates a homemade solution that blends leftover coffee grounds and vanilla pods with salt water. So, get down with sustainability and serve up this environmentally friendly cocktail.
SALT OF THE EARTH
- .67 oz Patrón Añejo
- 1.35 oz Amontillado Sherry
- .33 oz Agave water
- + 5 dashes coffee grounds solution*
- + 2 dashes orange blossom
Method
Stir and serve over a cube of ice in a coupette glass
*Coffee ground solution: Blend salt with leftover coffee grounds and vanilla pods, put in a jar and leave 24h to infuse. Add 20% boiling water to dissolve salt, filter and you will obtain the saline coffee solution.
WIND - DR. STRAVINSKY, BARCELONA, SPAIN
Crafted by Yeray Monoforte, this 2018 Patrón Perfectionist winning cocktail has won our praise for creating a top-tier elixir that incorporates Patrón Reposado infused with sustainably-harvested bee pollen. It’s definitely something you’ll want to enjoy on a nice breezy afternoon.
WIND
- 2 oz Patrón Silver
- 2 oz Eternal Youth Mixture*
- .5 oz Fino Sherry Wine
- .5 oz Egg whites
- + 3 Branches of thyme
- + 3 Sprays of Patrón Reposado infused in bee pollen**
Method
- Add all ingredients to a shaker tin with ice and shake to chill and combine.
- Double-strain into a chilled coupe.
- Garnish with fresh thyme sprig.
*Eternal Youth Mixture:
- 2 oz Honey
- 2 oz Lemon juice
- 1.25 oz Olive oil
Mix ingredients in a blender until combined.
**Patrón Reposado infused in bee pollen:
Soak 10 grams of bee pollen with 3.5 oz of Patrón Reposado for 1 hour. Strain and store in a spray bottle.
TO BEE HONEST - TRUNK HOTEL, TOKYO, JAPAN
Created by bartender Ryuichi Saito, this Japanese twist on the margarita substitutes orange liqueur for a sustainably produced green cordial that’s made from repurposed herbs and vegetables. A responsibly sourced, locally produced honey is also added to the cocktail. So, bee friendly and serve this eco-friendly drink up at your next get together.
TO BEE HONEST
- 1.5 oz Patrón Silver
- 1 tsp Shibuya Honey
- .67 oz Reuse green cordial
- .5 oz Lime juice
- + 2 dashes of Absinthe
Method
- Add all ingredients to a shaker with ice and shake.
- Strain into a chilled coupe glass
- Add a single ice cube
- Garnish with a dry lime wheel
