It all started on February 22 (aka our favorite holiday, International Margarita Day) with eight contenders created by eight expert bartenders from across the world. After two months and over 4 million online votes later, one margarita reigns supreme. We’re proud to crown the 2019 Margarita of the Year: The Dynasty Margarita.
One Epic Recipe
Hong Kong has always pushed the boundaries of typical cocktail culture, serving as a melting pot for eastern and western flavor profiles. Jay Khan sought to pay homage to his city’s heritage while also drawing inspiration from the creativity and experimentation found behind the bar. So, it’s no surprise that this drive to innovate and honor tradition led the Dynasty Margarita to take home the 2019 Margarita of the Year title. The winning recipe combines ingredients influential in Chinese cuisine, including lychee and ginger, to craft a citrusy-sweet margarita that can be enjoyed across the globe.
Dynasty Margartia
- 1.5 oz Patrón Silver
- .5 oz Citrónge Orange Liqueur
- .25 oz St-Germain
- .75 oz Fresh lime juice
- .25 oz Ginger syrup, such as Liber & Co.
- 3 Fresh or canned lychees
- + Grapefruit salt rim
- + Lime twist for garnish
Method
- Rim a rocks glass with grapefruit salt.
- Place lychees in a cocktail shaker.
- Add remaining ingredients to shaker with ice and shake hard to chill and combine.
- Double strain onto fresh ice in a rocks glass.
- Garnish with a lime twist.
