About NOM
The meaning of NOM
The Norma Oficial Mexicana number, or NOM number denotes that the bottle is authentic tequila produced in Mexico. It also tells you which tequila producer it comes from. Our distillery—Tequila Patrón—has a NOM of 1492.
Shared NOMs
If two brands share a NOM number, they were made in the same place and might even share the same process. You’ll only ever see NOM 1492 on Patrón because that’s all we make at Patrón.
Patrón’s NOM
Patrón’s NOM, 1492, is one-of-a-kind because it’s the only brand produced at the Hacienda Patrón distillery, with a unique handcrafted process that includes the help of 60 hands from start to finish.
Finding a NOM
The four-digit NOM number can be found on any bottle of tequila. Some are on the back, but ours is prominently displayed on the Patrón front label.
NOM Oversight
This number is a unique four-digit code assigned by the Consejo Regulador del Tequila (CRT), on behalf of the Mexican government.
