What was the first margarita recipe?
Although the exact ingredients of the original margarita recipe are unknown, the first time the tequila cocktail made its way into print was in the December 1953 issue of Esquire Magazine.
Margaritas typically contain tequila, citrus fruit juice, and orange liqueur. The drink is often garnished with a lime wedge and the glass may be rimmed with salt.
Several versions of the classic margarita exist today. These cocktails make use of a wide variety of ingredients from fruit such as pineapple and lychee for a sweeter flavor profile, to ginger and jalapeño peppers which add notes of spice.
